The primary objective of a coaching intervention is to improve performance, while acknowledging that the client has the necessary skills and expertise to achieve their goals and find the answers they seek during their coaching journey.Colette has a passion for coaching, to see a client moving forward, and unlocking their full potential to become the best version of themselves is hugely rewarding for her. Research shows, a person’s full potential can be unlocked by developing self-awareness.  Higher self-awareness allows the client to become more aware of their thought processes, emotions, and performance. Once a client develops awareness, it allows them to make a choice and change. Heightened awareness is the gateway to change.

Colette graduated the top of the class with a first-class honour in a Master’s degree in Personal and Management Coaching from University College Cork (UCC). Colette has extensive experience in coaching both academic and administrative university staff and Quercus scholars.  As well as being a coach, Colette is also a qualified Accountant with over twenty years’ experience dealing with complex information/ situations at a senior level. Colette actively contributes to the development of the strategies and policies of the Department she works in. Colette brings a focus and drive to building and sustaining high levels of performance and addresses any performance issues as they arise. By combining her senior management skills and coaching, she has in-depth insight into the challenges people encounter during their career.

My coaching style: I practice solution-focused cognitive behavioural coaching. This approach identifies desired solutions and pathways to achieve positive results so that you can live the life you desire. 

My coaching philosophy: I believe in a growth mindset that fosters personal development and well-being, self-awareness and a love of learning.

Siobhán Laoide-Kemp, School of Clinical Therapies

My goal is to contribute to the wider UCC community through coaching.

I work with the Coachee to promote self-reflection and self-awareness to deal with life’s challenges and embrace new opportunities. Two areas of particular interest include work-life balance and coaching family carers. 2-4 sessions are usually required.

Dearbhail O’Callaghan, College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences

As a Work Placement Manager in the School of Society, Politics and Ethics, I work closely with undergraduate and postgraduate students on a one to one basis to help them to move along their career path. This work has demonstrated that I very much enjoy a collaborative journey. I am a member of the BIS academic staff. Coaching provides the opportunity to talk about important things in a wider context and from a personal perspective while at the same time in a more grounded way that is possible when trying to go-it-alone. I believe coaching is the ultimate form of personal-development whereby the coach enables perception and change to evolve over time and in a person-centric manner.
