Dr Éadaoin Regan - Skills Centre Coordinator

Éadaoin is the current Skills Centre Coordinator following her four years as a Postgraduate Tutor in the centre. Having completed her undergraduate degree in BA English and History in 2012, Éadaoin took a break from studies to work in a business outsourcing centre before undertaking a Team Lead position. In 2015, Éadaoin returned to studies and completed an MA in English Literature at Ulster University Coleraine. Returning to UCC, Éadaoin began her PhD in the School of English and Digital Humanities in 2017 while working as a Postgraduate Tutor in the School. Two years later, Éadaoin was delighted to become a part of the Skills Centre team.

Following her PhD graduation in June 2023, Éadaoin stepped into the interim position of Skills Centre Coordinator. Having experienced the successes and challenges students face from undergraduate to postgraduate degrees and due to her many years as a tutor, Éadaoin is mindful of the potential in every student and the difference a friendly face of a fellow student can make when guiding them toward success. Our Skills Centre tutors are all undergraduate and postgraduate students, therefore encompassing the peer to peer ethos of Skills Centre supports.

Dr Loretta Goff  - Academic Integrity Education Officer

Loretta is UCC’s Academic Integrity Education Officer, based in the Skills Centre. She creates, manages, and delivers training and resources on academic integrity and academic misconduct for both students and staff at UCC, fostering a culture of academic integrity across the University.

Prior to this, Loretta was also a Skills Centre Tutor while completing her PhD in Film and Screen Media. She encourages students to make use of the Skills Centre as all the sessions and resources available will help you develop your academic skills and put your best work forward.

Marian Elders - Senior Executive Assistant

Marian attended UCC as a mature student and graduated with a B Soc Sc and an MA in Women’s Studies.  In addition she successfully completed a Post Graduate qualification in Guidance and support from NUI Maynooth.

Based on her educational background and experience of working with students, Marian will be able to help you make the most of the supports the Skills Centre has to offer.

Ana Claudia Ferreira - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Cláudia is a Biomedical Engineer currently pursuing her PhD at the Tyndall National Institute and VistaMilk SFI Research Centre. She graduated from the University of Minho, including a year of studies at the University of South-Eastern Norway. Cláudia's research is centred on the creation of a cutting-edge smart capsule designed to analyse changes in a cow's digestive system. This innovative project is aimed at monitoring animal health and well-being, enabling early disease detection, and promoting a sustainable dairy industry. Since August 2021, Cláudia has been an integral part of the skills centre, where she had the chance to build on her skills and support students through their academic journey.

Maria Butler - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Maria is a postgraduate tutor with the Skills Centre and a fourth year PhD student in the School of English. This is her third year tutoring with us. Maria started her PhD after a seven year break from academia so she understands the stresses that can accompany a return to education. She enjoys helping other students navigate the challenges of higher education so they can achieve their best

Chara Charalambous - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Chara is a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology who is conducting crucial research on the sociocultural impact of carnival music from Cyprus. Her research is centred on the Limassol Carnival Serenades, where she meticulously analyses its influence on the local traditional music scene to ensure cultural sustainability.

Hope Noonan Stoner - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Originally from San Francisco, California, Hope earned her BA Honours in English with minors in Spanish Literature and Language and History, at Union College in Schenectady, New York in 2020.

She moved to Cork in 2020. She has a First-Class Honours MA degree in Irish Writing and Film (2021) from University College Cork and a First Class Honours MA degree in Global Security and Borders (2022) from Queen’s University Belfast. She is in the second year of her PhD in the School of English and Digital Humanities at UCC.

This is Hope’s second year working as a Skills Centre postgraduate tutor. She believes strongly in the Skills Centre’s ethos as an academic support for students across the disciplines at UCC as a student who has worked across disciplines herself and looks forward to working alongside new and returning UCC students this year

Stephanie Moura - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Stephanie was awarded the PhD Kraft Heinz Fellowship to pursue her studies in the field of International Business Strategy at UCC in 2021. She joined the Skills Centre team as a postgrad tutor in 2022.

Luke Watson - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Luke is a fourth year PhD student in History studying the impact of the French Revolution on Irish political discourse in the Eighteenth Century. Luke has been with the Skills Centre since 2019 and enjoys helping students overcome the challenges of academic writing and academic argument. He has a background in History and Philosophy, but through the Skills Centre has gained an insight into many other fields.

Siria Manini - Skills Centre Undergraduate Tutor

Siria is an undergraduate English student in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences. Her main interests are reading, writing, going to the gym and the cinema, and art crafting. With a background as a private tutor and activity leader in an English Summer camp she decided to become a Peer Support Leader and also and Undergraduate Tutor in the Skills Centre as she would love to help students who are finding it hard to settle into college!

Brian Curtin - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Following on from an undergraduate degree in Medical and Health Sciences, Brian is currently undertaking a Master's in Positive and Coaching Psychology. With past experience as Education Officer for the UCC Translational Medicine Society, as well as co-founding and hosting the health science based podcast 'Narrowing The Void', Brian is looking forward to further developing his teaching and communication skills as a tutor.

Cian Lynch - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Cian is a first time tutor in the Skills Centre having previously tutored in the Access Centre. Outside of tutoring, Cian is undertaking his PhD in the School of History having previously completed an M.Phil in International History and a BA in History and Politics. His areas of research include the Great War, modern conflict, and defence and security studies.

Kelly Buckley - Skills Centre Undergraduate Tutor

Kelly is an undergraduate tutor who is new to her role at the skills centre in UCC. Kelly is a current mature student of Applied Psychology who is passionate about lifelong learning. As a non-traditional student she is a keen advocate of equal opportunity and access for all people on their journeys into and through education. Kelly looks forward to welcoming and working with undergraduate students who visit the skills centre. Outside of her student and skills centre role Kelly teaches Yoga and is passionate about mental health and wellbeing.

Amanda Sithole - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Amanda, an international student, earned her master’s degree in MSc Cooperatives, Agri-food and Sustainable Development at UCC. She is currently in her first year of pursuing a PhD. Amanda is thrilled to be part of the Skill Centre team and is eager to embark on a journey of growth and learning as she progresses along her career path.

Ioannis Kaprosioutis - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Ioannis Kaprosioutis is a first-year PhD student with the School of English and Digital Humanities. His research focus is primarily based on a post-structuralist approach to the grotesque and carnivalesque image in short stories.

Khaled Alwisi - Skills Centre Undergraduate Tutor

Khaled is an undergraduate digital skills tutor with the UCC Skills Centre and a 2nd year Computer Science student. He hopes to help students through being a tutor for the Skills Centre and at the same time develop and improve on his own academic and teaching skills. Jordan Carolan - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Jordan is a first year PhD student in Applied Linguistics and is the recipient of the CACSSS PhD Excellence Scholarship. When he is not working at the UCC Skills Centre, he is assisting incoming students on UCC's CampusConnect platform and answering general questions. He is excited to start working at the Skills Centre because he truly believes that the Skills Centre is an invaluable service that improves the student experience and addresses so many common concerns that students have.

Tadhg Kearney - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Tadhg is a postgraduate tutor in the Skills Centre at UCC. He has completed his BA in English and History and is currently pursuing an MA in Modernities in the School of English. In his spare time, he is failing at writing his novel. Going forward, he isn’t too sure about what he wants to do in the future, but he is excited to obtain great experience working as a tutor and provide assistance to other students within UCC.

Romane Lieber - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Romane is a research assistant and assistant lecturer at the School of Law. She is also a postgraduate tutor at the Access Skill Centre since the beginning of 2023 and at the Skill Centre for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Building on a master's in international public law and a master's in international human rights law, Romane's research interests focus on socio-legal studies, gender and the law and anti-discrimination/equality law in a European context.

A strong believer in “help your neighbour”, she is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential by bringing tailored support and a positive learning environment.

Robyn McAuliffe is a 2nd-Year PhD student with the School of English and Digital Humanities. Her research focuses on depictions of gendered trauma in Old English literature.

Cheryl Voon Yi Chi - Skills Centre Postgraduate Tutor

Cheryl is an international student from Malaysia and is currently pursuing the MA Applied Psychology in UCC, having completed her BA psychology undergraduate degree in 2023. Her area of interest includes special needs education and helping individuals with mental health disorders. She is a postgraduate tutor in Skills Centre starting in 2023.

Beth is a postgraduate tutor with the Skills Centre and a fourth year PhD student in the English Department. Beth completed her BA in English and Sociology and her MA in English Modernities here at UCC. In her spare time she is usually reading, writing or being tormented by her dog Benny. 

Joy is an international student pursuing an MA in Migration, Mobility, and Culture. She completed a BA in Intelligence and Security Studies at The Ohio State University in 2020. Her areas of interest include forced migration and refugee protection.
Joy is particularly looking forward to assisting students with academic writing, having extensive experience with writing and editing policy papers both in academia and her career.

I'm Alan and this is my first year as a postgraduate tutor at the skills centre and sixth year at UCC. I've learned a lot from my time spent here at UCC and still have more to learn as I complete my Masters. I hope that the lessons learned in my experience will offer a solution somewhat to any issue that may arise in your time here.

I am Rehab Elhiny, a third year PhD student in the School of Pharmacy. My research is focused on cardiovascular diseases risk control. I hold a master’s degree in clinical pharmacy. Previously, I worked as a teaching assistant in the School of Pharmacy, Minia University, where I developed skills in mentoring and supporting students. Being an international student myself, I understand the challenges of adapting to a new environment and I am here to help others navigate this transition. 

David is a postgraduate tutor with the Skills Centre. He is currently doing a PhD in Education and specialises in the area of autism. He works closely with the Access Office and often assists with exam accomodations (such as scribing). David is a firm believer in inclusive education and helping students to reach their educational goals. He also has a strong interest in creative writing and loves to compose songs and write poetry.

Bonny is a postgradute tutor with the Skills Centre and a first year postgraduate student in the School of Education. Bonny is undertaking the Postgraduate Masters of Education with the aim of becoming a fully qualified second-level teacher. With the experience of both teaching students in the classroom and being a student herself, Bonny understands the trails and tribulations of learning and education. She has undergone extensive training in Digital Accessibility and Universal Design Learning (UDL) of which she is very passionate about. She endeavours to assist students in finding their best path forward through higher education.

I have 5 years of professional experience in data science related field. As I have gone through many challenges during my journey. Hence, I can understand how stressful it is for the students.

Clare is a postgraduate tutor at the Skills Centre and a PhD candidate in the department of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies. She is also a queer educator, activist, and enthusiastic home cook.

Moira completed her undergraduate degree in Criminology at UCC in 2019, before moving to Dublin to complete her HDIP in Psychology at UCC. She is back at UCC this year to pursue her MA in Applied Psychology. Moira looks forward to supporting different students in the Skills Centre throughout the year.

Claire is a postgraduate tutor with the skills centre. Claire is a Second Year Masters student with the School of History. Claire completed her BA History Degree at University College Cork in 2023. Having completed the Certificate of Arts (History) in 2019 with ACE she understands the challenges of returning to education after a break in her studies. Claire has experience of primary teaching in England and is an advocate of lifelong teaching and learning. 

Pooja is an international student currently pursuing  masters in Information Systems for Business Performance at University College Cork. With 3.8 years of work experience in the IT industry, she is enthusiastic about being part of the Skill centre and is eager to continue her personal and professional growth as she advances in her career.

Harikrishnan, hailing from India, is currently pursuing his master’s at UCC. With a strong background in finance, accounting, and information systems, and experience as an Analyst, Hari is enthusiastic about helping students grow academically and is eager to support them in building their confidence through the UCC Skill Centre.

I am Kinza, an international student, holding a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery and I have successfully completed my postgraduate residency in Otorhinolaryngology. Currently, I am pursuing my first year of PhD, focusing on the integration of Artificial Intelligence in medical education. With a passion for innovation in teaching, I am excited to join the Skills Centre team and aims to simplify complex concepts through dynamic and interactive teaching methodology by empowering students to grasp challenging material with ease.

Rohitash is a post graduate (Business Analytics) student at UCC, originally hailing from India. He has around 6 years of experience as BA with rich exposure in working with diverse group of people, advocating DEI practices. As an international student he completely empathise with the problems faced by students on campus and would love to be of any help to them.

My name is Cormac and I am currently enrolled in the MA Criminology programme here at UCC. A two-time Quercus University scholar, I completed my BA in Criminology in UCC earlier this year, and was excited to continue to explore my chosen area of research - this being the experiences of autistic individuals in the justice system. I have a great love for teaching and hope to be able to help my college a less stressful and more comprehensible experience for anyone who needs a hand.
